Compassionate Communities Northern Ireland hosted Derry~Londonderry’s first
‘Before I Die’ Wall: Inspiring Reflections During Palliative Care Week 2024.
We often delay things until tomorrow—whether it’s starting a new class, taking that trip, or making a difficult apology—because we assume we have all the time in the world.
But the truth is, our time is limited, and one day, tomorrow won’t come.
In the rush of life, we often avoid asking ourselves important questions like,
“What do I want to be remembered for?” “What is my purpose?” “How can I make a difference—to someone’s life, to the environment, to future generations?”
If we don’t take the time to pause and reflect, how can we be sure we’re living our best life?
If we don’t pursue the things that make us the best version of ourselves, we might reach the end with regrets.
The “Before I Die” Wall was here to encourage you to stop and think: What do you want to do before you die?
Thousands of these walls have been created worldwide, inspired by an initiative started by Chang.
For those who were unable to visit the wall in-person, we invited all to add a virtual brick to our wall. Writing down your wish makes it more tangible—it’s the first step toward living your best life.
As well as the interactive wall, we engaged the public (including residents of & visitors to the city) with help from Joseph Carlin to ask them for one thing they want to do before they die.
