There’s a certain peace of mind that comes with knowing you’ve left a ‘map’ rather than a ‘maze’ for your family.
At 68, Patrick is in the ‘Sweet Spot of Preparedness’, he’s sharp and healthy enough to make complex decisions now so his kids don't have to make them during a crisis.

In the situation of a health crisis Patrick wants his clinical team to know what he wants and what he doesn’t want. Importantly, he does want to leave his children ‘second guessing’ what his wishes are.
He wants to ensure that if he can’t speak for himself, his specific wishes (like no intubation or CPR) are legally binding.
