Health & Wellbeing Get Together in Pomeroy

Sharon from Compassionate Communities Northern Ireland along with other Mid Ulster Loneliness Network committee members, Sandra McKenna, MULN Chair, Doreen Bolton, NHSCT, Raisa Donnelly, Mid Ulster District Council, Marie Devlin, Age Well Partnership and Tracey Powell, SHSCT, hosted a Health & Wellbeing Get Together in Pomeroy Forest Park .


The event aimed to bring older people living in rural communities together under the Take 5 Steps to Wellbeing initiative. The event provided information and activities on the 5 components - Be Active, Connect, Keep Learning, Take Notice and Give.


The audience enjoyed catching up with old friends and making new ones. They took part in singing as a group, chair exercises, mindfulness, gratitude and gift-making. An important element of living well is planning ahead for a time of declining health. The play 'Sure I'm only 76' highlighted the importance of Writing a Will and information on Advance Care Planning in Northern Ireland was provided. The day included information stands, lunch and importantly an opportunity to connect with people. It was a a fun-packed day enjoyed by 88 attendees all reporting that it was a great event.
